Looking forward to linking up this week with Bonnie over at Photo Art Friday . The challenge this week was to "use three photographs and one of my textures to create a piece of abstract photo art."
So I began playing around with a number of images, actually probably more like 8 or 9. I used a cool texture from Bonnie called:- "pdpa etched in stone." This image is great to work with and gives some amazing effects.
I chose a number of images to fuse together to form one cohesive picture.I cut out the lamb from the image below by isolating it with the lasso tool. I left a few rough edges instead of cleaning it up.
Next I selected an image of a lion and cut him out of his background using the same method. I had all of these images open in Gimp.
My next image was of the girl and I left the background intact.
At this point I have worked on 4 or 5 layers , I also added a layer of an image of the seashore and a clock face and played around with the opacity and filters on each level.
Next I added in the image of a horse, after cutting him out of the background.
and the image looked like:-
So now I played around with it a bit more and added in some text:-
and a last version:-

DeleteThis is so interesting - a great collage; the woman in the pic has the perfect pose. I like how ultimately the clock and seashore are so subtle but still offer depth to the background. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment Terrie, I have so much to learn but the process is fun. Blessings Suzanne

Awesome piece. The "Lion/Lamb" portion was so moving and I agree that the woman in the picture had a perfect position for the quote you used. I am slowly learning the Gimp program and will have to check out the (Lasso) tool. Where would I find it?
ReplyDeleteHi Ida, thanks so much for your lovely comment. The lasso tool is in the toolbox in gimp and if you google 'cut out backgrounds in Gimp' you will find a number of good video tutorials that walk you through using the tool step by step. Blessings Suzanne
